The Best Thing To Hold On To

Hello Kaisercraft friends! It’s Cathy here on the blog today. I am sharing a mixed media layout that I have created using a technique which is something that I admire in other crafters. I have mixed feelings with how my projects turn out when I use mists in my background, but I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and create something in a different style.

PAPERS: Antiquities Collection – P2745 Treasured |P2747 Beloved

KC PRODUCTS: CT960 Antiquities Collectables |CS352 Clear Stamps |CR207 Antiquities Curios|Ink Pads – IP757 Permanent Black|IP724 Bark|Kaiser Mists – KM129 Navy | KM132 Gold| IT493 Designer Template Distressed Dots |F630 Paper Bloom Iceberg |F646 Mini Paper Bloom Buttercream |T321 Craft Glue |T303 Foam Tape

OTHER: Clear Gesso |White Gesso |Modelling Paste |Hemp

One thing that I have discovered that when using mists, is that I find it very difficult to control how much mist goes onto my background when I spray it OR having the mist land where I would like it to go. In my layout (after preparing my paper with clear and then white gesso). I applied the mist straight from the bottle with a paintbrush. I had control of where and how much colour I used.

Once I had added my colour, I could start add my layers of paper. I inked the edges and used mounting foam for definition. I also place the mounting foam only in the centre of the papers in case I want to tuck something in later.

I print my photos at home for my layouts. By adjusting the filter or adding a filter to my photo, it also adds to the overall feel I wanting to capture. As the tones of this collection are muted, I toned things down in my photo.

The collectables provide so many wonderful embellishments to each collection. I always open my packet and pull out what I want to use and go from there. You can tuck them in and behind your papers to add layers and interest to your layout.

I hope that my thoughts and discoveries may help you try to step outside of your comfort zone when you decide to create next. I hope my suggestions about mists might encourage you to try and use them on a card or even on your next layout!

Blessed – Layout by Hetty Hall

Hello there Kaisercraft Fans, it is Hetty with you today. I am so excited to share my first Guest Design blog post with you today and what a great start it is as well as this collection is gorgeous.

– Antiquities, just love this colour combo –

PAPERS: ANTIQUITIES Collection: P2746 Precious|P2740 One of a Kind|PP1067 Paper Pad| CT960 Collectables|CR207 Curios|CS352 Clear Stamps

KC PRODUCTS: CB153 Raw panels – Corrugated Cardboard|CD650 – White Smooth Cardstock

I tore some random pieces of paper from the paper pad and layered them behind my photo. I nearly always use dimensional tape or cardboard in between my layers, not only because I like the look of it but also because it gives me room to add other elements like the collectables. In this close up you can see the layers.

I used the matching stamp set to randomly stamp the script stamp with black ink so it looks like I added some texture.

My favourite Kaisercraft product has always been the Collectables but how gorgeous is this Curios butterfly? Love the Curios, gorgeous circles of glass with beautiful prints that add shine and dimension to your projects, definitely a close second for sure.

The Antiquities Collection is super gorgeous with those yellow flowers and the blue tones, yet is not too feminine so can be used for both boy and girl projects.

So there you have it, I hope you like my first project as a Guest Designer and that you are inspired to get out your Antiquities Collection and start creating.

Until next time….

Fussy Cutting for Dimension

Hello Kaisercraft fans,
it’s Lisa here today to share some inspiration with you using the oh so fabulous
Antiquities Collection.

PAPERS: ANTIQUITIES Collection: P2741 Limited Edition, P2742 Heirloom, P2743 Antique, P2747 Beloved.
KC PRODUCTS: CT960 Collectables, SK807 Sticker Book, CS352 Clear Stamps, CS359 Grunged Paint Texture Stamp, IP747 Denim, IP744 Blue Haze, KM122 Yellow, KM129 Navy

The first thing that jumped out to me when I received this collection was the gorgeous print of the HEIRLOOM (reverse) paper. It was screaming to be fussy cut out.

But first I needed to get a little messy 🙂
I have used the Grunged Paint Texture Stamp and the number stamp from the Clear Stamps,
and Denim & Blue Haze inks, to stamp an X pattern on my base page.

I have then used my Yellow & Navy Kaiser Mists to splatter in the same pattern.
I have then fussy cut the HEIRLOOM (reverse) paper, into individual diamonds.
I have scored and folded up the edges of each one.
I have then arranged them in a diamond pattern that is split across my page.

I have then started to build up my layout, using collectables, stamped images and stickers.

I have then added my photo base to the right side of the page.

I have then added some elements to the left side to balance it out.

I have then added my photo and a couple of sentiments, and voila, done!

I love the dimension that was added by folding up the edges.

I am really happy with how this layout turned out and LOVED working with the
Antiquities Collection.

Trio of cards – Antiquities

Hello and welcome!   I was asked by the wonderful Melissa Kennedy to do a Guest Design Spot for Kaisercraft this month! You can imagine how excited I was so of course I jumped at the opportunity!

I was given the new Antiquities collection to play with. Wow! Such a lovely colour palette. Blues and yellow. I decided to make some cards.

To make my cards I decided to use the small paper pad in the collection and I teamed it up with a die set – Cut Out Patterns.  I selected a few co-ordinating papers for each card and used the dies to cut out the top sheet and then adhere both papers to your card base.

I then made my little clusters from the layering up the collectables using both glue and foam tape to add some dimension and interest. These little clusters are now ready to be added to your cards. I love the collectables! They make creating a breeze!

Here is a closer look at the cards I created.

I hope you have been inspired a little and thank you for the opportunity to share!

Choose Happy

Tatiana is here with you today and I have a new layout to share. For my project I chose my daughter’s photography on the seaside. She had a lot of fun playing new water that day, so I decided to save these memories. For my project I used paper and stamps from the Antiquities collection. All paper embellishments are cut from patterned paper.

Technique Tuesday – Feature Frames

Hello Kaisercraft fans!
It’s Technique Tuesday and it’s Lisa here today to share some inspiration with you!
I have a layout to share that I have created using the Antiquities Collection.

PAPERS: ANTIQUITIES Collection: P2740 One of a Kind, P2741 Limited Edition, P2743 Antique, P2744 Valuable, P2745 Treasured, P2746 Precious, P2747 Beloved
KC PRODUCTS: CT960 Collectables, SK807 Sticker Book, CS352 Clear Stamp, FL648 Flourish Pack, IT493 Distressed Dots Template, DD632 Ornate Layered Bracket Decorative Die, Kaisermists KM122 Yellow, KM129 Navy, Ink Pads IP757 Black & IP747 Denim, Paper Bloom F630 Iceberg, SB789 Pearls Chino.

The technique that I would like to share with you today,
is using different papers to frame your layout.
The Antiquities collection has some fabulous papers that are perfect for this.

To start I have used the ‘One of a Kind’ (reverse) as my base page.
I have added some mixed media using the ‘Distressed Dots’ Template.
I have also used the ‘Grunged Paint’ Texture Stamp and the Clear Stamp Set,
to stamp randomly over my page.

When framing my layout I like to use colours that contrast with my base paper.
The Antiquities Collections has a patterned paper, ‘Precious’, that already has a timber frame.
This was perfect for one level of my frame. For the inner frame I chose ‘Antique’ (reverse).

I have adhered the yellow frame to the base paper first.
I have then used foam tape to adhere the wood frame to the page.

Adding fussy cut flowers, from ‘Treasured’ to layer with the frames help add more depth to your page. I have used some in between the two frames and some on the outer frame.
I have then started to build up my page.

I have then used some of the ‘Collectables’ and fussy cut flowers from the papers to build up my layers. I have also used half of an ‘Ornate Layered Bracket’ Decorative Die.
I have then built up pieces of distressed patterned papers to matt my photo.

Some more collectables, Stickers and flowers to finish.
Then I have added some ‘Chino Pearls’ to the centre of my frame flowers.

I hope you like what I have created.
You can find the full instructions for this layout HERE.
I would LOVE to see how you use this technique on a project of yours,
so please share in our Facebook Group – Kaisercraft Corner.

You can find the Antiquities Collection in stock now at your local stockist or
online at Kaisercraft.

For the love of yellow..

I get a little excited every time I see yellow in paper ranges and this was no exception. Antiquities is a great unisex range perfect for scrapbooking both the boys and girls in your life.

This is my little guy at one of his scout camps and the blues, browns and pops of yellow let me create an earthy, masculine yet fun layout.
