Technique Tuesday – Mixed Media Rusty Cogs

Hello Chrissy here with another Technique Tuesday. Today I am sharing with you how I created some Mixed Media cogs using the Kaisercraft Wooden Flourish pack Workshop, ink pads and paint.

Workshop Collection: P2793 Tough|P2797 Gallant|P2799 Strapping|P2800 Handsome|P2801 Chivalrous|CT967 Workshop Collectables|FL654 Flourish Pack

Other: SB792 Chocolate Pearls|KC048 Mud Puddle Acrylic Paint|IP756 Ink Pad Gold Pigment|IP755 Ink Pad Silver Pigment|IP719 Black Mini Ink Pad|IP723 Vintage Mini Ink Pad|DD448 Cogs Panel Decorative Die|CD606 Navy Card Stock|KM129 Navy KAISERmist|KM132 Gold Shimmer KAISERmist

Other: Texture Paste|Crystal Lacquer

I started off by painting all the Wood Flourish Cogs in Mud Puddle paint, it doesn’t have to be precise, it is like an undercoat. Next I lightly dabbed on random bits of texture paste, then left to dry for a few mins. The next bit is fun, adding layers of ink using the Silver, Black & Vintage ink pads, lastly adding the Gold ink pad on top.

I also die cut some cogs from the Navy Kaiser card and used the same process without the texture paste.

Now to create the rest of the layout, I started off by building up my base using navy card and a selection of the Workshop papers.

I LOVE stitching on my layouts, so added some extra interest by hand stitching along the length of some of the papers. Then started to build up my layout by adding layers around my photo.

I’ve added the cogs around my photo, adding foam pads to some to give height and dimension.

I have had a typewriter sat on my desk for a very long time and have never really used it, I decided to type some of the lovely sayings from the collection onto a strip of paper and added that to my layout.

To finish off my layout I have added a few tiny metal embellishments and pearls to the centre of my cogs. I hope this has inspired you to have ago at Mixed Media cogs, this was my first time, it was fun so I will be doing it again very soon.

Something for the Boys!

Hello all! It’s Lisa here today to share my latest creation with you.
This month we have some gorgeous collections for you,
including the Workshop collection, perfect for the boys in your life.

PAPERS: WORKSHOP Collection: P2793 Tough, P2794 Dashing, P2798 Courageous
KC PRODUCTS: CT967 Collectables, SK813 Sticker Book, CR213 Curios, IT494 Linear Lines Template, CS364 Clear Stamp Set, DD3316 Texture Subway Decorative Die, CD606 Navy Cardstock, Ink Pads IP747 Denim, IP757 Black, IP744 Blue Haze
OTHER: Cardboard, Modelling Paste.

I have fallen in love!
With the Template, the Clear Stamps, the colours and elements,
well just all of it!

I do love a bit of grunge!!
This collection has it all. I have started with Dashing (reverse) as my base page.
I have then used the Linear Lines Template and modelling paste,
to make this background my own.

I have then started stamping with a few different inks,
and then I started to build up my page, using rulers and cogs.

I have also used the Subway Texture Decorative Die. I have die-cut these from both navy and white card stock. I have added these into my layers as I build them up.

As I am building I adhere more of the rulers,
more of the subway die-cuts and cogs.

I have used both foam tape and cardboard to add dimension to my layout.

I have then added some of the word stickers from the Sticker Book, sentiment tag from the Collectables and a Curio to finish.

I quite like how this one turned out. Perfect for my boys and their shenanigans 🙂

Until next time!

Tech Tuesday – Layering Elements

Hello all! It’s Lisa here today to share some inspiration and a technique with you.
I have been working with the Let It Snow Collection and this is what I have created

PAPERS: LET IT SNOW Collection: P2804 Twinkle Star, P2806 Pine Forest, P2807 Shimmering
KC PRODUCTS: CS365 Clear Stamp Set, SK814 Sticker Book, CT968 Collectables, CR214 Curios, IT495 Scattered Stars Template, Kaiser Mist KM127 Turquoise,
Ink Pads IP746 Peacock, IP752 Smoke, IP745 Seabreeze.
OTHER:Modelling Paste, gauze.

For this layout, I wanted to use the Clear Stamp Set to add extra trees and snowflakes, stamped in Seabreeze Ink, layering with the Collectables to create a forest around my photo.

I have started by building up my background, I have used the Scattered Stars Template to stencil first with Ink and then with modelling paste.
I have also stamped some snowflakes and splashed some Kaiser Mist in Turquoise.

I have started to add in some sticker strips and snowflakes from the Sticker Book.
Adhere some gauze to your layout.
I have then added some of the trees, to start my forest.

Once I have built the first layer of trees, I then adhered my photo, and added another layer of trees, some adhered with foam tape for dimension.

I have then added some more trees to the other side of my photo,
again layering some stamped and some collectable trees.

I have then started to add some more of the stamped snowflakes.

I have used one of the Curios from this collection.

A couple of the sentiments from the Collectables and the Sticker Book.

I hope that you like what I have created.
I am in love with the colours and snowflakes in this collection, just gorgeous!

Until next time!

Believe in You – Magenta Collection

Hello, It’s Lisa back today to share another project with you.
This time I have been working with the stunning Magenta Collection.
Oh the pinks! And the florals! I fell in love with this collection.
Here is the layout that I have created.

PAPERS: MAGENTA Collection: P2776 Flamingo, P2777 Rosa, P2779 Raspberry, P2780 Pomegranate, P2782 Pink, PP1071 Paper Pad
KC PRODUCTS: CT965 Collectables, SK811 Sticker Book, CS356 Clear Stamps, CS361 Woven Line Texture Stamp, IT491 Line Art Template, CD601 White Card Stock, Ink Pads – IP739 Flamingo, IP752 Smoke, IP753 Licorice. Kaiser Mists – KM121 White, KM125 Candy, KM131 Black.
OTHER: Embroidery thread – Pale pink & Hot pink, Needle. Modelling Paste.

I have started with the gorgeous grey ‘Raspberry’ as my base for my layout.
I have then added some texture using the Line Art Template and modelling paste.
I have then used the Woven Line Texture Stamp to add some more depth.
Of course I have then added some splashes using my mists.

I have then used some of the strip stickers from the Sticker Book.
I love the new sticker books, they have so many stickers and two of each page.

I have then started to build my photo stack.
I have added layers of the papers and then added some of the gorgeous florals to my page,
fussy cut from the papers.

I have also cut flowers from the black and white part of ‘PINK’.
I have then used embroidery thread to sew centres to the flowers and segments of the leaves.

I have then added these to my layout, along with more fussy cut florals,
images stamped with the Clear Stamps, and some of the Collectables.

Lastly, I have built my corner cluster by layering some of the patterned papers,
a Collectable sentiment and some more of the flowers and foliage.

I really love the colours in this collection and the flowers are so gorgeous!

There are so many ways to colour the black and white flowers, you could sew them like I did,
or use watercolours or markers to colour them.

So many layers of gorgeousness!
I hope you like what I have created,

Until next time!

The Best Painted Background with Terhi

Hello hello, Terhi here!
It’s time for another fun Technique Tuesday and I’m here to inspire you to use our amazing line of acrylic paints to your next craft project.

PRODUCTS USED:
PAPERS:
MAGENTA Collection: P2775 Fuchsia, P2779 Raspberry, P2781 Berry, P2782 Pink, P2783 Rouge
KC PRODUCTS: PP1071 Paper Pad, CT965 Collectables, SB794 Pearls Snow, Smooth Cardstock White, CR207 Curios. KC 001 Paint White, KC010 Paint Hot Pink.
OTHER: T320 Craft Glue, T302 Foam Dots, white gel pen.

I can tell you that one of the main reasons why I love using acrylic paint on my scrapbook layouts is how quick they are. For example this background took just about three minutes to make, and half of that time I was already washing my palette knife.

To create this background I took a white cardstock and the most lovely colour of hot pink acrylic paint, added couple drops of paint straight to the cardstock and spread it around with palette knife. If you don’t have palette knife, old key card or similar will do the job. Just spread it out and leave it. If you want, let it dry and add another colour.

Cardstock is so thick that for one or two layer of paint it doesn’t need any gesso to prepare it first. It’s already ready! If you want to use patterned paper from Kaisercraft, I’d spread a layer of clear gesso first, to avoid getting wrinkled paper.
To get the paint dry I prefer air drying as preparing the heat gun takes more time than actually using it, so it is very quick to dry anyway.

Another great and easy way to use the paints is splashing. As my layout is very pink, I mixed couple drops of water and couple drops of paint, then flicked it around the page with a small brush. The white balances the layout nicely.

Hope this inspires you today!
