Technique Tuesday – Mixed Media Rusty Cogs

Hello Chrissy here with another Technique Tuesday. Today I am sharing with you how I created some Mixed Media cogs using the Kaisercraft Wooden Flourish pack Workshop, ink pads and paint.

Workshop Collection: P2793 Tough|P2797 Gallant|P2799 Strapping|P2800 Handsome|P2801 Chivalrous|CT967 Workshop Collectables|FL654 Flourish Pack

Other: SB792 Chocolate Pearls|KC048 Mud Puddle Acrylic Paint|IP756 Ink Pad Gold Pigment|IP755 Ink Pad Silver Pigment|IP719 Black Mini Ink Pad|IP723 Vintage Mini Ink Pad|DD448 Cogs Panel Decorative Die|CD606 Navy Card Stock|KM129 Navy KAISERmist|KM132 Gold Shimmer KAISERmist

Other: Texture Paste|Crystal Lacquer

I started off by painting all the Wood Flourish Cogs in Mud Puddle paint, it doesn’t have to be precise, it is like an undercoat. Next I lightly dabbed on random bits of texture paste, then left to dry for a few mins. The next bit is fun, adding layers of ink using the Silver, Black & Vintage ink pads, lastly adding the Gold ink pad on top.

I also die cut some cogs from the Navy Kaiser card and used the same process without the texture paste.

Now to create the rest of the layout, I started off by building up my base using navy card and a selection of the Workshop papers.

I LOVE stitching on my layouts, so added some extra interest by hand stitching along the length of some of the papers. Then started to build up my layout by adding layers around my photo.

I’ve added the cogs around my photo, adding foam pads to some to give height and dimension.

I have had a typewriter sat on my desk for a very long time and have never really used it, I decided to type some of the lovely sayings from the collection onto a strip of paper and added that to my layout.

To finish off my layout I have added a few tiny metal embellishments and pearls to the centre of my cogs. I hope this has inspired you to have ago at Mixed Media cogs, this was my first time, it was fun so I will be doing it again very soon.

Something for the Boys!

Hello all! It’s Lisa here today to share my latest creation with you.
This month we have some gorgeous collections for you,
including the Workshop collection, perfect for the boys in your life.

PAPERS: WORKSHOP Collection: P2793 Tough, P2794 Dashing, P2798 Courageous
KC PRODUCTS: CT967 Collectables, SK813 Sticker Book, CR213 Curios, IT494 Linear Lines Template, CS364 Clear Stamp Set, DD3316 Texture Subway Decorative Die, CD606 Navy Cardstock, Ink Pads IP747 Denim, IP757 Black, IP744 Blue Haze
OTHER: Cardboard, Modelling Paste.

I have fallen in love!
With the Template, the Clear Stamps, the colours and elements,
well just all of it!

I do love a bit of grunge!!
This collection has it all. I have started with Dashing (reverse) as my base page.
I have then used the Linear Lines Template and modelling paste,
to make this background my own.

I have then started stamping with a few different inks,
and then I started to build up my page, using rulers and cogs.

I have also used the Subway Texture Decorative Die. I have die-cut these from both navy and white card stock. I have added these into my layers as I build them up.

As I am building I adhere more of the rulers,
more of the subway die-cuts and cogs.

I have used both foam tape and cardboard to add dimension to my layout.

I have then added some of the word stickers from the Sticker Book, sentiment tag from the Collectables and a Curio to finish.

I quite like how this one turned out. Perfect for my boys and their shenanigans 🙂
You can find the full instructions for this layout HERE.

Until next time!

Boys Will Be Boys

If your anything like me, you have 1000’s of photos but you keep printing more and then you realise I am never going to get rid of the backlog – especially if your doing one photo per layout…. But then this situation has some tricky parts to figure out – how many photos is too many? I dont like doing double layouts? I like the crisp look of one photo on a page…….

Well I have the perfect layout for you!!! Something with a little hidden flip out book that still stays flat in your albums but you can add plenty of photos and journaling while keeping it crisp and clean.

From the inside of the book …. you can customise it to what ever width you need I did it slightly bigger than a 5×7 photo.

This is where the fun beings – adding all your photos and journaling I like to have all my photos touching each other it makes it look like one big photo and it stops that pesky trapped space.

Now to add some mixed media to the layout dont be afraid to stamp over the top of the die cut… I dont use a block for my stamp which allows the stamp to have less of an edge.

Now I just a brush to add my heavy ink….. it allows more control and less waste.

Cards for the Guys!

Hi all–Deanna from Canada here to share a couple of cards featuring the new Workshop line!

I’m loving the grunge and distressing that this line has and think the stickers and collectibles are perfect for those hard to make guy cards.

Kaisercraft Products: P2799 Strapping| P2800 Handsome| P2801 Chivalrous| CT967 Collectibles| SK813 Sticker Book| CR213 Curios| CD343 Blueberry Cardstock
Other: Silver Foil| Silver Nailheads| Brown Ink

Help celebrate the special Dad in your life with a card designed especially for him–perfect for Father’s Day or Pop’s birthday!

I layered several different papers and added a little brown ink to the Collectibles to “grunge” them up a little more and tone down the brighter colours and I loved mixing all the different embellishments–Collectibles, stickers and Curios.

Adding foam tape to some of the elements will give you dimension and texture to make your layers pop.

Adding a bit of silver foil brought in a metal feel that tied in nicely with the masculine vibe. I also layered my stickers which is a nice alternative to layering papers–just make sure your elements touch so they don’t look too random.
Kaisercraft Products: P2794 Dashing| P2800 Handsome| P2801 Chivalrous| CT967 Collectibles| SK813 Sticker Book| CD341 Shadow Cardstock
Other: Silver Foil| Silver Nailheads

This card is perfect for a masculine Birthday or Anniversary card.

Again I used many layers of the stickers and adding foam to some. I trimmed down the 3×4 element card from the Handsome paper and made that the focal quote on the card.

A little more silver touches brings the card together.

You can download instructions for these cards HERE and HERE.

Best Ever Dad Scrapbook Layout

Hello, Kaisercraft friends. Donna here with my layout using the Workshop collection, perfect for the special men in our lives, dads!

For today’s post, I created a simple scrapbook layout of my husband and daughter.

Click the main image above, download the PDF instructions here

Or click the slider below for step-by-step photos and instructions.

[metaslider id=83988 cssclass=””]

Kaisercraft products used:  WORKSHOP Collection: P2799 Strapping, PP1073 Paper Pad, SK813 Sticker Book, CT967 Collectables, FL654 Flourish Pack, IT487 Distressed Diamonds, KM 129 Navy, KM132 Gold, SB792 Chocolate, IP724 Bark, T303 Foam Tape, T321 Acid-Free Craft Glue

The photos I used were a bit colorful so I converted them to B & W to complement the blue and brown color palette of the Workshop collection.

I added interesting details by distressing, inking and using foam mounting tape for dimension/depth.

I like lifting or curling the edges of photos, die-cuts or stickers for added texture.

I hope this layout inspired you to create something for the special dads in your lives. I would love to hear your thoughts and any questions just leave them in the comment section. Thank you for dropping by!

All products to create this layout are available online at the Kaisercraft Shop.

Happy crafting!

BOYS will be BOYS- layout by Annette Gearside

Hello all and welcome .. it’s fantastic to see you here, This is Annette sharing my first blog post as a design team member and what better way than with this super masculine range ‘ WORKSHOP’. Love the grungy look of this collection, with blue/grey with a touch of rust, so awesome for the boys& men in your life.

BOYS will be BOYS

PRODUCTS USED: PAPERS: WORKSHOP Collection: P2798-Courageous, P2801Chivalrous, P2797-Gallant

KC PRODUCTS: Cardstock ‘Anchor’ Inks IP751-Chocolate, IP747Denim, Wooden Cogs, CS364-Stamp, CT967-Collectables, SK813-Sticker book, IT494-Stencil

I really like to frame my Layouts so I used cardstock , then my chosen patterned papers, distressing all edges to add to the grungy look, then applying thick heavy gesso through a stencil then stamping for dimension.

I double matted two of my photos and the centre feature photo was framed to highlight. you may also notice my photos are not perfect, a little blurry , they still however tell a story & preserve memories.

I inked & glazed the wooden cogs, plus used bits from the collectables & fussy cut some cogs from the patterned paper , these have been added with various thicknesses of foam tape.

I framed my feature photo with the ruler print, I felt this pic truly portrayed my grandson who absolutely groans when I ask for a posed pic, truly I could create an album of poked tongues & screwed up facial expressions. I have started to use them because it him to a ‘T’ the joker.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating with this ‘WORKSHOP range of papers and I know you will also, if you wish to create a similar LO my instructions for this layout are HERE.

Bye for now, till next time,

Happy Scrapping, Annette
